Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace on Saturday in a Barclays Premiere League match played at Old Trafford.
Juan Mata, who has made only eight appearances for United this season, came from the bench to hand his club their first win in four games, after a slim loss to Manchester City last week at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spaniard replaced Adnan Januzaj, a Belgian, in the second period of the game. He put the Red Devils ahead of their dogged opponent when his shot from the edge of the area took a slight deflection to beat the Palace shot-stopper.
Before the goal, both teams had a couple of scares and either could have gone ahead each other.
Crystal Palace is yet to get a win since September.
The win has now pushed United forward to sixth on the table with only one point behind Arsenal, which has a game less than the Manchester club. Arsenal plays its match on Sunday and will meet United on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Emirates Stadium.
