National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Victor Umeh, has suspended the National Secretary of the troubled party, Umaru Shinkafi.
It was gathered that Umeh removed Shinkafi fcrom his position after the latter called for his (Umeh) resignation. APGA has been in crisis for some time now.
Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, few months ago, resigned as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the party and later decamped to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, which some members of the party were not happy with.
Though some party bigwigs are not happy about the latest development, it is not certain if Shinkafi will challenge his removal by the party boss.
The present governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, was recently appointed the BoT Chairman by Umeh, which some members of the party have challenged, saying it is against their constitution. But Umeh defended his decision to make the governor the party’s BoT chairman, saying Obiano’s excellent performance and commitment to the progress of the party qualified him for the post.
