The distribution of the Permanent Voters Cards, PVC, in Ogun State has been extended by one day by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. This was announced on Sunday by the Commission following the several flops recorded during the earlier three days slated for the exercise.
A statement issued on Sunday by the state Resident Electoral Commission, REC, Sam Olumekun, disclosed that the exercise was extended due to the hitches witnessed during the three days INEC had earmarked for the PVC distribution in the state.
INEC urged residents of the state to be calm and not panic, promising that all registered voters would get their cards.
The state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had gone to INEC state headquarters in Abeokuta on Saturday to complain over the flops in the exercise. He had called for a fresh start of the process, but a representative of the Commission in Ogun State stressed that Amosun’s request could only be approved by the National headquarters in Abuja.
