Three Senators and seven out of the nine members of the House of Representatives from Ogun State have submitted their letters of defection to the National Assembly, NASS.
Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, Senator Gbenga Kaka, who is the Chairman of Ogun State lawmakers in NASS, explained that the federal lawmakers from the state defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Social Democratic Party, SDP, due to the fractionalisation of the APC in Ogun State.
Kaka spoke shortly after the Senators presented their letters of defection to the Senate President, David Mark.
He said all efforts to smoothen things with the leadership of APC over the fractionalisation proved abortive and they felt it was necessary to pull out of the party and did not partake in its national convention.
The affected Senators are Gbenga Kaka from Ogun East, Gbenga Obadara from Ogun Central and Akin Odunsi from Ogun West.
