The death of a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Cosmas Niagwan, has been confirmed.
Niagwan, a member of the Senate from 2003 to 2007, died in Lagos, where he slumped and died afterwards. He had gone to visit a friend who lives at Festac Town, but slumped on his way back.
He was rushed to a hospital at about 7:25pm, but died before arriving there.
His Personal Assistant and nephew, Sunday Niagwan, who confirmed his uncle’s death, revealed that the deceased was not ill before he gave up the ghost.
Though late Niagwan did not get his expression of interest and nomination forms from the PDP before his demise, but his posters expressing his intention to contest for the governorship seat in the state flooded major streets in Plateau State.
The deceased represented Plateau South Senatorial District at the National Assembly for four years. He is survived by a wife and six children.
