Fashola’s Aide, APC Guber Aspirant Battle Murder Case

An aide to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State is presently fighting hard to clear his name in an alleged murder case before him.

The aide, Musiliu Folami, who is the Special Adviser to Fashola on Politics and Legislative Matters, is facing trials along with a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Tola Kasali and his (Kasali) Chief Security Officer, Tobun Abiodun.

The trio were taken to the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a four-count charge bordering on murder and unlawful possession of firearms.

They were accused of killing an agent of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Musiliu Lamidi, in Ibeju Lekki during the distribution of the Permanent Voters Card, PVC, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, some days ago.

According to the police, the accused persons conspired to murder Lamidi on Sunday, November 9, 2014, around 2pm at Eko Tourism Hotel, Akodo.

They were also accused of being in possession of firearms without due authorisation.

The police informed the court that the offences are punishable under sections 231, 221 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and Section 27 (b)(1) of the Firearms Act, Cap 28 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2011.

The accused persons begged for bail, which was granted by the Chief Magistrate, Tunbosun Abolarinwa, on self-recognition and the matter adjourned till December 11, 2014 pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Kasali was formerly a Commissioner for Rural Development in Lagos State.
