No fewer than 10 men of the Nigerian military were feared dead on Tuesday morning in a fierce gun battle between them and members of Boko Haram.
Scores of the insurgents were also killed in the gunfire, which lasted some hours.
The Nigerian troops and the terrorists group tested their strength in Gombi town of Adamawa State, which the sects took control of last Thursday.
The soldiers had attempted to reclaim the town from members of Boko Haram, before they were met with stiff resistance.
It was gathered from BBC that the Nigerian troops successfully took over control of the town from the sect and chased the insurgents away.
