The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has ordered the arrest of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, Aproko247 has learnt.
This followed the unrest that erupted at the National Assembly complex on Thursday morning, when the police prevented some lawmakers from gaining access into the parliament.
Due to the blockade, some members of the House scaled the fence and forced the Speaker into the Green Chamber, where the request made by President Goodluck Jonathan to extend emergency rule in three states was deliberated on and rejected by the legislators.
Rising from a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo and the National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki at the Presidential Villa, on Friday, Abba ordered the arrest of Tambuwal.
According to what we gathered, the Speaker is needed to explain his role in the Thursday’s disorder.
It was further learnt that the FCT Abuja and Sokoto State Commissioners of Police were directed to serve Tambuwal with notice of invitation to the Force Headquarters in Abuja and if he makes any resistance, he should be arrested immediately.
