The All Progressives Congress, APC, has commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost his younger sister, Mrs Nancy Jonathan-Olei, to death on Sunday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Jonathan’s sister died on Sunday at a hospital in Bayelsa after a brief illness. The death of the President’s sibling came hours after he gave out his daughter in marriage in Yenagoa on Saturday.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, APC emphasized that the loss of a loved one is always an deep tragedy, which is compounded when such death occurs at an unripe age.
The party said, ”We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of the departed, comfort the President and his entire family and give them the strength to bear their loss.”
The country’s main opposition party noted that, ”We also wish the immediate family of the deceased God’s succour in their moment of darkness.”
The deceased was aged 52 and her burial arrangement will be announced by the family soon, a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati said.
