Popular Abuja socialite, Dumebi Kachukwu, has been nabbed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Kachukwu, a former son-in-law to ex-Minister of Aviation, Kema Chikwe, was arrested on Friday evening when he turned himself in to EFCC office in Abuja.
Before then, the Commission had stormed his residence at 27, Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja with a search warrant.
This followed his failure to show up at EFCC office on December 23, 2014, when he was required to show up following a petition against him by Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Health, Ndudi Elumelu.
Elumele claimed that Kachikwu duped him of about N750 million under the guise of helping him to secure the governorship ticket of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, which was eventually given to Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
It was gathered that Kachikwu allegedly boasted to help Elumelu get the ticket because of his connection in the party and had allegedly requested money from the victim to execute this.
However, he failed to actualise this and the petitioner is bitter about this and reported him to the EFCC.
