According to reports reaching us, President Goodluck Jonathan is holding a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The meeting is currently holding at the ex-President’s residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, we learnt.
This is one of such meetings Jonathan has held with the elder statesman in recent times.
It would also be recalled that Obasanjo has recently been very critical of President Jonathan’s government. Not too long ago, Obasanjo accused Jonathan of squandering the nation’s foreign reserves.
But the government, through the Ministry of Finance, replied the former Nigerian leader, stating that the allegations made by Obasanjo were not true.
Over the weekend, the former President attended the wedding ceremony of Jonathan’s niece in Abuja.
Our correspondent gathered that the President is making efforts to get the former Board of Trustees Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to his side ahead of the February 2015 presidential election.
