It has been confirmed that the men of the Nigerian Army and members of Boko Haram are battling each other over the control of two major towns in Borno State; Maiduguri and Monguni.
The Islamic sect has been trying in recent times to totally take charge of Maiduguri, the state capital, after chasing the military out of some villages in the state.
The insurgents had launched a massive attack on Maiduguri and Monguni on Saturday night, but the military, via a tweet on its Twitter handle, confirmed that, “Troops are repelling a simultaneous attack on Monguno and Maiduguri by Terrorists. Coordinated air and land OPs being conducted now.”
The Nigerian government promised a final onslaught on the terrorist group before the February 2015 election.
It was reliably gathered that some members of Boko Haram had converged at the Shehu of Dikwa’s residence on Saturday afternoon to strategize on their Saturday nights’ attacks.
“There were loud sounds of explosions over the night in Maiduguri,” a source informed Aproko247 on Sunday.
