The Nigerian Senate will on Wednesday (today) screen the eight ministerial nominees for possible confirmation as Ministers as requested by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is among the nominees to appear before the lawmakers.
There have been calls from some quarters that Obanikoro’s nomination should be rejected by members of the Red Chambers of the National Assembly over his alleged involvement in the controversial Ekiti audio recording.
Obanikoro is a nominee from Lagos State. He earlier resigned from Jonathan’s administration to pursue his governorship ambition in Lagos, but lost at the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primaries in the state to Jimi Agbaje.
Other nominees are Professor Nicholas Akis Ada from Benue State, Kenneth Kobani from Rivers State, Senator Patricia Akawashiki from Nasarawa State, Colonel Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu (rtd) from Abia State, Mrs Hauwa’u Lawan from Jigawa State, Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya from Taraba State and Engr. Fidelis Nwankwo from Ebonyi State.
