The appointment of Otunba Runsewe as the Director General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo had boosted the already-dead tourism industry in Nigeria. It was during the tenure of Runsewe that the money-spinning industry breathed fresh air.
However, the hardworking Ogun State-born Runsewe was unceremoniously removed from office by President Goodluck Jonathan and was replaced by Ms Sally Mbanefo.
However, since her appointment, the hitherto viable Corporation has been plagued with different crisis.
At the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Mbanefo was accused of staging a fake stand for Nigeria in a hotel and she was accused of embezzling public fund allocated to build a befitting stand for the country at the mundial, as a way of showcasing Nigeria’s tourism industry to the world at the competition.
The latest crisis rocking the pretty woman is an alleged financial recklessness she is entangled in.
But this time around, the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Employees, AUPCTRE, is posed for a showdown with her.
AUPCTRE, in a memo, which was obtained by Aporoko247, want Mbanefo out of office, even though some of the union members alleged that she is desperately trying to bribe some of them to back her.
The body accused Mbanefo of abusing her office and also involved in fraud related activities.
Here are documents we obtained regarding the allegations.
