Some hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons attacked the entourage of Kano Pillars Football Club on Thursday.
Five players of the club were injured by the gunmen in the incident.
It was gathered that the team was travelling for a league game in Owerri, Imo State against Heartland, when the club’s bus was attacked by armed robbers.
The current league champions wrote on Tiwtter, “Five players were injured from gunshots – Gambo, Ogbonaya, Eneji Otekpa, Murtala Adamu, and Moses Ekpai.”
“The gunmen also snatched handsets and other valuables from the players,” the club added.
Aproko247 learnt 25 persons, including 18 players, were in the bus when the robbery attack occurred at about 1:15pm.
The injured players were later rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja for treatment.
