The hitherto smooth relationship between Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, and Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, popularly known as ‘Baba Eto’, seems to have deteriorated.
Aproko247 gathered from Urbanlifeng that the former Commissioner for Works in Lagos State is no longer happy with the ‘white garment’ church leader, who has his church in Ojodu area of the state.
Not too long ago, Odunmbaku’s loyalist and House of Representatives member, James Faleke, publicly denounced him.
What we heard that is that Aregbesola believed the religious leader had secret meetings with a top member of the opposition in Lagos, Bode George, during the Osun election.
“We hear he had several secret meetings with PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George and had planned to decamp to PDP, having being convinced by the PDP, that Aregbesola’s contender; Senator Iyiola Omisore will win that election.
“If you recall days to the election, when the APC had practically moved its machinery to Osun, the Odunmbaku was conspicuously, not visible in the solidarity move.
“Those within also divulged that the Celestial Church leader, also made away with funds that was said to be up to 200million, allegedly contributed by some Lagos Council boss, to support the Governor Aregbesola, for the election,” Urbanlifeng reports.
“The avaricious conduct of the popular preacher, we hear has finally put curtain on the once robust relationship, between him and the Governor that spanned over a decade. Those within the divulged to www.urbanlifeng.com, after he discovered he was being suspected, he immediately ran abroad, feigning, he had health issues. So upon his return, he was said to have gone to Osun to see his ‘friend’, who has obviously discovered his treachery.
“In Osogbo, in the usual manner, he wanted to stay over at the Government House, like he used to when the going was good. The Governor, who is still very angry, we hear, immediately rebuffed him and told him he was no longer welcomed, so he left for Lagos in shame.
“Since his return to Lagos, we hear, he has been running from pillar to post begging, those who can pacify his former friend and other top members of his party, to save his face from the disciplinary actions that has been planned to be taken against him.
“We hear the party hierarchy has plan to sack from the state deputy chairman, as he was removed as the head of Mandate, a group, within the party,” it added.
