Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, engaged themselves in a free-for-all on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the state capital, causing the disruption of public peace in the area. However, no life was lost in the fracas.
The youth wing of the opposition party in the state, PDP, had organised an interactive session with some residents of Ogun Central Senatorial district.
The event, which precisely took place in Totoro area of Abeokuta, where the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun hails from, was meant to sell the party’s candidate in the senatorial election on March 28, 2015, to the people.
Mrs Edwin Clark was a guest at the meeting.
Our correspondent gathered that trouble started when some supporters of the APC stormed the venue of the event and an argument later ensued between members of the two political parties.
The clash, which lasted about 15 minutes, was finally brought under control by security agents drafted to the occasion.
