President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has berated players of the Super Eagles over their altitude of play when adoring the green-white-green.
Pinnick, who spoke with the players and officials of the team after they lost 0-1 to Uganda on Wednesday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom in a friendly match, said henceforth, he would want anyone that is called to serve his fatherland to put up a fighting spirit and positive attitude.
He spoke with the team on Wednesday night at the Hotel Le Meridienin in Uyo with the NFF Executive Committee members.
In his words, “When next you receive an invitation letter to come represent Nigeria, you have a critical decision to make: accept it only if you believe you are in the frame of mind to give your everything or decline if you do not feel that way. The camp of the National Team would no longer welcome average players or good players with poor attitude. Today, we are supposed to be celebrating with Vincent Enyeama on his 100th cap, but your poor performance has ruined the party and Nigerians are very angry.”
Meanwhile, the Executive Committee of NFF, on Wednesday, formally ratified the appointment of Mohammed Sanusi as the General Secretary of the Federation.
At a meeting in Uyo, Pinnick presented Sanusi before the executive board for formal endorsement. The former NFF Director of Competitions, who had been appointed following the resignation of Barrister Musa Amadu on March 18, was unanimously endorsed.
Also in Uyo on Wednesday, the Executive Committee of the NFF passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Pinnick.
A member of the Committee, Chris Green, who moved the motion, said, “You have brought so much on board since you came in, along the lines of capacity building, practical and positive approach to issues and a commitment to doing things differently. The entire Board is proud of your leadership style.
“As we go forward, we believe that the ideas and your passionate commitment and drive will take Nigeria football to heights never previously attained.”
