As earlier promised, the Nigerian troops fighting to reclaim Gworza town from the control of Boko Haram terrorists group, has eventually succeeded in the battle.
About six weeks ago, the Nigerian troops, with the help of their counterparts from the neighbouring countries, launched a massive onslaught on the insurgents, taking over territories that were before taken over by the Islamic sect.
On Friday, the Nigerian military finally chased out every member of Boko Haram in Gwoza, a town in Borno State believed to be the seat of power of the terrorists group.
Confirming this development, the Defence Headquarters, through its Twitter handle, DefenceInfoNG, posted on Friday, “Troops this morning captured Gwoza destroying the Headquarters of the Terrorists self styled Caliphate.#NeverAgain.
“Several terrorists died, while many were injured. Mopping up of Gworza and her suburbs ongoing.”
Some months ago, Boko Haram stormed the Palace of Emir of Gwoza, dethroned the traditional ruler and installed its own Emir to govern the town, which it declared a Caliphate.
