Media Assistant to a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart in Ondo State, Olusola Oke, Ogunleye Rotimi Williams, has debunked a rumour that his principal has defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement issued on Friday night, Williams not only described the rumour as “untrue” and “satanic”, but a “wicked lie from the mill where lies are fabricated.”
Williams said Oke has never thought of leaving the party, “not even now that his service is needed most. He will always stay the focus of his actions.”
He described the chieftain of the ruling party in Ondo State as a “reputable member of the PDP and a dependable personality.”
“Earlier today, while attending to urgent party assignment, in company of Dr Rahman Mimiko, the governor of Ondo state, received members of PDP from Supare Akoko who came on solidarity visit and also joined Mr Governor to receive some defectors into the PDP,” the statement explained.
Williams said the rumour came up to “sway Oke’s supporters and dampened their morale for the coming elections.” He stressed that Oke “remains in PDP and he is committed to ensuring that PDP come out victorious in the next elections.”
