The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, as the winner of the presidential election of Saturday, March 28, 2015.
Chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, declared Buhari Nigeria’s president-elect at about 3:48am on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Abuja at the International Conference Centre, venue of the Commission’s results collation centre.
“That Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, havind satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby returned the winner,” Jega said.
Buhari contested in the election with President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The President has since accepted the outcome of the poll and has also called the president-elect to congratulate him on his victory.
