Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its gubernatorial candidate, Nyesome Wike, will be mercilessly crushed in the April 11 governorship election, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared.
“Wike and PDP are doomed, as they cannot stand the combined might of Governor Chibuike Amaechi and our gubernatorial candidate, Dr Dakuku Peterside,” a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the Rivers APC Chairman, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, disclosed.
In the press release, which was made available to Aproko247, Ikanya added that, “Wike and PDP’s woes have been further compounded now that Amaechi has triumphantly returned to lead our gubernatorial campaign after successfully piloting the Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation to victory in the March 28 presidential poll.”
“If National PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan could not withstand Amaechi’s knockout punch, there is no way Wike and Rivers PDP can survive our hurricane on April 11,” Ikanya boasted.
Ikanya warmly welcomed Amaechi back home and thanked him for immediately rejoining the state APC campaign train.
“Our spirits have further been lifted by the return of the ‘Lion of Niger Delta Politics’, an exemplary leader who instead of taking a break after the bruising presidential campaign and election, came straight to Port Harcourt to take charge of our State campaign train,” he said.
Ikanya disclosed that the State APC governorship and House of Assembly campaign team has become greatly boosted following Amaechi’s double onslaught in the form of his Easter message and rousing speech while addressing APC supporters at Saturday’s victory rally in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.
In his Easter message, Amaechi told residents of Rivers State to troop out in their millions on Saturday, April 11, to elect a new and capable Governor in the person of Dr Dakuku Peterside and the APC lawmakers that will join him to complete the excellent job his administration has started.
Rivers APC thanked Amaechi for setting up a Judicial Commission of Enquiry to investigate politically motivated deaths in the State in line with his administration’s resolve to protect lives and property.
“We cannot allow these innocent sons and daughters of Rivers State whose lives were needlessly cut short by bloodthirsty power mongers to die in vain. We therefore fully support any attempt by the State Government to avenge their death as a deterrent to those who may contemplate such murderous acts in the future,” the statement said.
