The Ondo State House of Assembly, on Monday morning, impeached the deputy governor of the state, Ali Olanusi.
Twenty-four out of the 26 members of the House, including the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele, sat to pass the impeachment motion raised by the Majority Leader, Henry Akinsoyinu.
At the plenary session on Monday, Akinsoyinu argued that Olanusi committed seven impeachable offences of gross misconduct and abuse of office levelled against him.
This was after the Assembly examined the report of the seven-man panel instituted to probe the allegations against the deputy governor.
The panel, which was set up by the State Chief Judge, Olasehinde Kumuyi, was headed by Olatunji Adeniyan.
After Olanusi was impeached by the lawmakers, the Speaker ordered that all government properties in his possession should be retrieved and handed over to the Permanent Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor.
