Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, has disclosed that officers of the Nigerian military have rescued more than 200 girls in the dreaded Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
He also disclosed that about 93 women were rescued by the troops on Tuesday after battle with the terrorists in their hideout.
However, the Defence spokesman said he cannot confirm if the rescued girls are the kidnapped Chibok Girls.
“Troops this afternoon rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa Forest. We cannot confirm it the Chibok Girls are in this group,” Olukolade tweeted on Tuesday night.
“The freed persons are now being screened and profiled. We will bing you details later,” he also said.
