Power Outage Frustrates Reps Members

Members of the House of Representatives, on Thursday, felt the agony many Nigerians have been made to go through almost every day due to the epileptic power supply in the country.

In recent times, there have been regular short of electricity supply in Nigeria, and the scarcity of fuel in the country has also not helped the situation.

At the plenary on Thursday, power supply was cut at intervals, which got the legislators angry.

This forced the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, who presided over the sitting, to announce an adjournment till next Tuesday.

The green chamber was so hot that it left the lawmakers, who were not used to such conditions, to complain bitterly.

Even those who had bills and other issues to table before the House could not do so because of the discomfort caused by the cut in power supply.

The air conditioning systems installed in the House could not work because of the development.

Despite the privatisation of the power sector by the Federal Government, there has not been an improvement in the electricity supply in Nigeria.

Most Nigerians still pay for ‘crazy bills’ given to them monthly by the power supply companies.
