The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took another turn on Wednesday evening when the Chairman of its Board of Trustees, BoT, Tony Anenih, resigned from his position.
On Wednesday morning, after the ruling party’s National Chairman, Adamu Muazu resigned, there were reports that President Goodluck Jonathan had also asked Anenih to follow suit.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the PDP National Secretary, Adewale Oladipo, it was disclosed that “Consequent upon the resignation (of Anenih), the Secretary of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, holds forth pending the election of a new BoT chairman.”
The PDP commended the “outstanding contributions of Anenih in the party over the years, especially in his capacity as the BoT Chairman” and wished “him well in his future endeavours.”
The party also said its National Working Committee, NWC, will “make its position public tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, 2015” and urged for calm among its members.
