At least 35 persons were reportedly feared dead in separate attacks on six communities in Borno State on Wednesday night.
This was disclosed to newsmen on Thursday in Maiduguri, the state capital, by a member of a vigilante group in the state.
The man, who begged not to be named, explained that the terrorists stormed the villages in a commando style and opened fire on the unarmed villagers, who were caught off guard. Several houses were also burnt by the attackers, the source said.
The source also revealed that the affected communities were Almeri, Buraltuma, Burmari, Darmanti,
Koshifa and Matangle. The villagers are all under Damboa local government area of Borno State.
Many inhabitants of the areas were said to have been injured in the incident, while most of them who made it alive ran to bushes and neighbouring communities.
