Court Hears Kashamu’s Extradition Case June 25

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Thursday, June 25, 2015 for hearing of an extraction application filed by the Federal Government of Nigeria against Senator Buruji Kashamu.

The United States of America wants the lawmaker from Ogun State in the upper chamber of the National Assembly sent to them to answer allegations of drug trafficking levelled against him.

The suit was filed on May 28, 2015 with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015, signed by the immediate past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.

Last month, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, had attempted to arrest Kashamu and send him to the US, but the court kicked against, directing the anti-drug body to vacate his residence in Lagos, which was initially under siege.

The case is expected to be heard on June 25 by Justice Gabriel Kolawole.
