All military checkpoints mounted across the country have been ordered to be dismantled. This directive was given by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday when he met service chiefs at the Aso Rock Villa.
The President ordered the Police to take control of internal security in the country.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Ismail Aliyu, addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting, disclosed that the President also directed the security chiefs to liaise with the Police on taking over internal security.
Aliyu disclosed that Monday’s meeting between Buhari and the service chiefs was called to brief the President on the situation of things in the Boko Haram terrorised regions.
He noted that the security chiefs briefed the President on the progress in the fight against insurgency in the north east Nigeria and new plans of defeating the group.
