The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has extended deadline for registration of the Bank Verification Number, BVN, it introduced in 2014.
The BVN was introduced by the country’s chief bank to curb the rate of fraud in the financial institution in Nigeria.
Tuesday, June 30, 2015 was earlier fixed for account holders to obtain their unique numbers attached to their accounts to enable them carry out transactions with their bank accounts.
However, some Nigerians failed to key into the introduction, which caused a last minute rush in many banks across the country on the deadline day.
The CBN has now extended the deadline to Saturday, October 31, 2015.
