Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, has formally bowed out of office.
His tenure as the head of the country’s electoral umpire ends today, Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
It would be recalled that few days before the postponed February 14, 2015 presidential poll, it was rumoured that he would be forced out of office by the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan.
But Jonathan had said Jega would not be booted out of office like the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano.
He conducted the 2015 general elections, which ushered in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
