A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has cleared former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, of charges of corruption leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, in her ruling on Wednesday, discharged and acquitted the former spokesman to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo of the N100 million money laundering accusation against him.
The court held that the prosecution’s case was weak and without strong evidence.
The trial of Fani-Kayode started in 2008 when the anti-money laundering agency arraigned him before Justice Ramat Mohammed.
In 2014, the charge was reduced to N2.1 million.
