Two pastors with the Assemblies of God in Enugu threw caution into the wind when they exchanged blows inside the church on Sunday, July 19, 2015.
The men of God and their loyalists, shortly after a Sunday School service at the church, engaged in a free-for-all, which turned the place of worship into a place of confusion.
It was gathered that the two factions of the church were fighting over who controls the parish. This led to the police to shut the church when they could not reach a truce after their intervention.
There has been leadership crisis at the Mount Street Parish of Assemblies of God between Rev Nathaniel Udeze and Rev Amaechi Agbo.
Both of them also belong to the two different factions of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, between Professor Paul Emeka and Dr Chidi Okoroafor.
Rev Udeze claimed Rev Agbo has been transferred from the parish since May 2015, and he (Udeze), posted to there by the leadership of Rev Emeka, but Rev Agbo disagreed, calling his colleague an intruder.
He stressed that he is yet to be formally transferred by the leadership of Rev Okoroafor.
