No fewer than seven persons were killed in a chemical explosion at the Laminga Water Treatment Plant in Jos, Plateau State.
According to the state’s Police Command spokesman, Emmanuel Abu, the victims died after an explosion at the Plateau Water Board treatment plant near the British America junction in the state capital on Saturday morning.
It was learnt that a chlorine pipe burst, which caused the blast initially thought to be a bomb explosion.
Some buildings in the area were seriously affected by the impact of the blast and several other people injured.
Some of the injured victims are receiving treatment at the Plateau Specialist Hospital, while the scene has been condoned off by the police.
