President Muhammadu Buhari has been charged to investigate the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
According to the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Samuel Nwanosike, Buhari must probe those around him, including Amaechi, who the party alleged to have looted the state during his tenure as governor.
The party also disclosed that it has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, detailing alleged corruptions carried out under Amaechi.
“Since President Muhammadu Buhari has told the world that he is a man with zero tolerance for corruption, we, the people of Rivers, are asking that there should be no sacred cow. We are saying that corruption in Rivers State should be investigated and justice should be done,” Nwanosike told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
“As we speak to you, we cannot trace the proceeds that emanated from all the government’s transactions that that took place in Rivers State,” he added.
He also described as laughable reports that some members of the PDP in the state were planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
