South African Boxer Dies After Knockout

A South African fighter named Mzwanele Kompolo has died after he was knocked out in the first round of a fight in Frere, a town located in the Eastern Cape province, previously known as the Transkei region, of South Africa.

It was said that Kompolo collapsed in the ring after he was beaten by his opponent, Siphenathi Qampi. He reportedly went into coma and did not survive.

The South African Minister of Sports, Fikile Mbalula, who reacted to the unfortunate incident said, “It is indeed sad to hear of this news involving the passing of this young upcoming athlete.”

Kompolo’s death came after another boxer, an Australian named David Browne, died on Tuesday after being knocked unconscious in a fight.
