Authorities of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have arranged about 40,000 of their personnel to protect lives and properties of citizens for the Sallah celebration this week, a statement issued by Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel O. Okeh, has disclosed.
Muslims across the globe are gearing up for Sallah, which takes place on Thursday and Friday. The Civil Defence officers are expected to secure Nigerians during the festivity.
In the statement, the Commandant General of the Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, urged Nigerians to remain peaceful, assuring them of their safety. He said adequate security would be provided in soft spots like places of worship, markets and schools.
Gana further urged citizens to be extra vigilant and security conscious at all time by reporting strange movements and objects to security personnel.
While felicitating with all Nigerians, especially the Muslims on the Sallah celebration, the NSCDC boss urged them to continue to imbibe the spirit of peaceful coexistence and tolerance at all time.
