Governor Adams Oshiomhole was lucky to have escaped the wrath of some party members on Tuesday at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, venue of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor, who was in the state as Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the party’s primary, was quickly smuggled out when the exercise when it ended in a deadlock and trouble broke out.
Some angry party members had wanted to descend heavily on him, but for the prompt intervention of security operatives.
Trouble started when youths loyal to Timipre Sylva stormed the venue with him, complaining bitterly that there were moves to scheme him out. He claimed that the party’s national leadership was in support of another candidate, which he was not happy about.
However, after making his displeasure known, his supporters started an attack on Oshiomhole, leaving others to run to scamper for safety.
