‘Pot-Bellied’ Army Officers Get Dec. 15 Deadline

Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has warned officers with ‘pot belly’ to do something about it or face the consequences.

Buratai made this declaration on Monday at the third quarter Chief of Army Staff conference in Abuja.

He told all overweight soldiers to get into shape, directing the Department of Army Physical Training to work out guidelines on improving the physical fitness of personnel.

The army chief decried poor attitude military personnel pay to their weights, challenging them to always stay fit. He said obesity will not be welcomed in the army.

Buratai, who also spoke on the abducted Chibok secondary school girls, explained that his men are doing everything possible to rescue the girls.

According to him, “Despite the progress that is occurring in the theatre, we know that the Chibok girls are somewhere, we are suspecting that they are somewhere. We are not yet sure where they are, but we are suspecting they are somewhere. As soon as this is confirmed, we will attempt to see what we can do to bring them back in peace.”
