Manchester United topped the EPL table on Saturday for the first time in two seasons when they took advantage of their ‘noisy neighbour’s’ slip at Tottenham earlier in the day.
United defeated Sunderland 3-0 to claim the number one spot on the log. Rooney, Memphis and Juan Mata all scored at Old Trafford
Arsenal beat Leicester 5-2 away and ended the Foxes’ unbeaten run in the season. Alexis Sanchez scored a hat trick, while Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud scored each at the King Power Stadium for the Gunners.
Liverpool defeated Aston Villa at Anfield 3-2 with Daniel Sturridge on the score sheet twice, while James Milner also scored for the club.
In other matches, Southampton beat Swansea City 3-1, Stoke City claimed a 2-1 over AFC Bournemouth while West Ham United and Norwich City shared four goals apiece.
