No doubt, the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos is one of the highly rated branches of the Pastor E.A. Adeboye-led denomination.
Those who matter in the society attend the church and it is believed that the parish financially contributes immensely to the RCCG worldwide, which is why the General Overseer of the mission cannot joke with the church.
The City of David, tucked inside Oniru Estate in Victoria Island, Lagos, launched its world class Dialysis Centre and the Dental Unit of her hospital called Healing Stripes Hospital Earlier early September 2015. Its popular Charity Shop was also re-opened after it was closed for renovation in March 2015.
The Dialysis Centre and Dental Unit are part of the Healing Stripes Hospital, one of the expert health care facilities in Lagos, Nigeria, established in 2010 by the church as part of its Christian Social Reform; to spread health and cheer in its community and ensure that quality health care is accessible, affordable and reliable.
The dialyses centre which, which got more machines for its operations, was eventually opened on September 6, 2015, to contribute a quota to the treatment of patients with kidney disease.
It is reported that about 30 million Nigerians are suffering from kidney disease with only 200 machines available to cater to them, instead of the 12,000 machines that are needed.
This, according to what we gathered, was the space the church tried to fill with the setting up of the hospital.
The dialysis centre has done about 2,092 subsidized dialysis sessions and 102 free sessions to date. Partnering with some hospitals in India, the dialysis centre has also successfully conducted kidney transplants.
Those, who attended the launch had free liver screening, free dental consultation as well as tele-consultation with the team from Global Hospital Mumbai India, a partner of the healing stripes hospital, were done.
Senior Pastor of the parish, Idowu Iluyomade could not hide his joy at the re-opening of the church’s Charity Shop named ‘It’s New to Me’, which was officially launched on June 11, 2009, and which is located at House 3, Prince Alaba Oniru Estate Victoria Island opposite Four points.
The shop focuses on the sales of new and fairly used quality, designer clothes, household items, toys, children’s wears, furniture, cars and other quality items including wedding gowns, which is sold at a fraction of its original price to the public.
Speaking on the new hospital, Iluyomade said, “I am equally excited at how God is helping us to add new machines to our already existing dialysis centre as well as the dedication of the dental unit of the Healing Stripes Hospital.
“The Christian Social Reforms is at the heart of what we stand for as a Church, and the Healing Stripes Hospital grants us the avenue to show our love and care for mankind, thus we will always expand its scope of operations.
“I’ll also like to mention that in line with our social reform mandate, the Arise Medical Impact, an NGO under the leadership of Pastor Siju Iluyomade, has reached out to more than 26, 128 individuals in various communities through their free medical care and outreaches.”
