Former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has chided governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, saying what he could not do was perfected by an ex-military officer.
Sylva, who spoke after he emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary for the Bayelsa election in December 2015, said politicians still have a lot to learn.
The APC flag bearer for the poll said Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan Ali was able to conduct a peaceful primary that Oshiomhole could not achieve.
“It has been a long walk and I am very happy today to accept the victory that you have given to me for the second time. This is only the beginning of the journey. Today, I have seen that we politicians have a lot to learn from the military, what a serving Governor of Edo state of this country was incapable of doing just a few days ago has been achieved by a retired general and his team,” Sylva said.
He added, “This tells you that we have a lot to learn about the military. I want to thank the security agencies that have been present since yesterday (Wednesday) night until now and have kept the peace and made sure that this primary was rancour free.”
The National Working Committee, NWC, of the APC had replaced Oshiomhole with Ali as Chairman of the gubernatorial primary election committee after the first primary ended in a controversy.
