Jose Mourinho’s side lost to a tactical Southampton team in a late-Saturday EPL fixture that ended 3-1.
The Blues went ahead in the 10th minute through a Willian free-kick, but Steven Davis levelled for the Saints one minute before half time.
Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle gave Southampton the needed advantage in the 60th and 73rd minutes respectively to seal the match.
The defeat to Southampton on Saturday is the second for Mourinho at the Stamford Bridge this season and the fourth defeat for Chelsea in eight games in the EPL.
Chelsea now sit 16 on the table with eight points.
