Radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for Friday night’s bomb blasts that occurred in Kuje and Nyanya areas of Abuja, Nigeria’s seat of power.
The group, which pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, ISIS, in early 2015 through a video released by the sect leader, said its members carried out the attack that has claimed more than 18 lives and injured several others.
Boko Haram, in a statement released on Twitter on Sunday, said the group’s members carried out the bombings.
The sect also released pictures of the alleged suicide bombers involved in the deadly bomb explosions.
Two bomb explosions first happened in Kuje, near a police station in the community, while another occurred at Nyanya.
Boko Haram has carried out deadly attacks in northern parts of Nigeria, killing thousands of persons dead.
Friday’s attacks came just when the Nigerian Army have claimed to be winning the war on terrorism in the country. The military officials have also recently claimed several members of the group have surrendered to them.
