An election petition tribunal in Ogun State has cancelled the victory of Senator Buruji Kashamu at the National and state Assembly polls held in the state on March 28, 2015.
At the ruling on Friday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the Tribunal ordered a rerun of the election in 90 days after it nullified his victory. Justice Ebiowei Tobi-led tribunal ruled that a re-run should hold in 110 polling units.
Prince Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District had petitioned the Tribunal, arguing that Kashamu was not validly elected.
Kashamu, an indigene of Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State, is wanted in the US for drug related allegations.
