Operatives of the Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, thwarted another suicide attack in Maiduguri on Saturday when they stopped three female suspected suicide bombers who attempted to gain entrance into the Borno State capital through Dala Yasara.
Two of the suicide bombers detonated their IEDs while the third person was reportedly shot dead by soldiers as she tried to escape.
Spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency Sani Datti, said the women blew themselves up when they were stopped for a body search by self-defence fighters on the outskirts of the city.
In recent times, there had been attacks by suicide bombers suspected to be members of the deadly Boko Haram group.
