Gani Adams Not A Yoruba Man—Group

Yoruba leaders have been advised to disregard the factional leader of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams as one of the credible Yoruba leaders who would determine the fate of the
Yoruba Nation.

This was contained in a press release signed by the spokesperson of the National Executive Council of the OPC, Comrade Adesina Akinpelu and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

While commenting on the recently held Yoruba Leaders Summit at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat Ibadan, Akinpelu hinted that the meeting was necessary to address the sufferings of the Yoruba people in the hands of the Fulani herdsmen.

He also called on relevant authorities to, as a matter of urgency, addressed the invasion of the farmlands of the Yorubas by Fulani herdsmen before it generates to a crisis that may result in loss of
lives and properties.

The NCC spokesperson, while speaking on the invitation of Gani Adams as one of the Yoruba leaders, said that apart from the fact that he is from of Nupe land, he took part in politics in the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan and that he should resign from the group before it is too late.

“I want to say that the Yoruba leaders have taken the right steps on the issue, but they should be mindful of the people that will come together to discuss the future of the Yoruba Nation and they should forget about the likes of Gani Adams, who have contravened the rule of the founding members of OPC by getting involved in active politics.

“Gani Adams is not a Yoruba man, he hailed from Nupe and our entire members have rejected him and he should quit the stage now,” Akinpelu said.

Comrade Akinpelu however, called on the Yoruba leaders not to allow a repeat of what happened in 1998, which claimed many lives and property.
