The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has informed its agents and members that the Bayelsa State governorship election held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, has not been cancelled contrary to reports claiming such.
The country’s main opposition party, via its verified Twitter handle on Saturday evening, urged its members to disregard text messages flying about that the poll has been cancelled.
According to the PDP, this is the handiwork of some mischief makers, who are planning to cause confusion with the messages.
The party further urged its agents to stay awake during the collation of votes, stressing that “counting of votes is over in most polling units across the state.”
“(This is the) time to protect our votes and escort them to Ward Collation Centres. With the PDP determination on these faces, any attempted MAR (Military Assisted Rigging) will be resisted.
“Don’t go anywhere, stay at Collation Centres. Tonight is the most crucial period of this election. It was at night they manipulated Kogi. They want you to go back home so they can change election results, don’t fall for their tricks. Protect your votes,” the party said in a series of tweets on Saturday.
