Outcome of the April 11, 2015, governorship poll has been nullified by an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Adefunke Okojie, the appellate court held that the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal erred when it voided election results from only 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
Consequently, the five-man panel of Justices of the appeal court unanimously voided the Certificate of Return issued to Governor Emmanuel Udom by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and ordered a fresh governorship election to be conducted in the state within 90 days.
