Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, IMF, Christine Lagarde, is in Nigeria on a four-day visit.
Lagarde is in the country to hold talks with President Muhammadu Buhari and other key policy makers concerning economic developments affecting Nigeria. She arrived Nigeria on Monday
According to a statement issued by the IMF, “The visit to Nigeria will provide an opportunity to strengthen the Fund’s partnership with the largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa.”
“Nigeria is working hard to improve its business environment, promote opportunities for growth in the private sector, and strengthen social cohesion, all areas where the government has an important role to play,” Lagarde said
She added that her discussions with Buhari would focus on various economic issues, especially the impact of the declining crude oil prices on the country’s economy.
